HS

Which, dear reader, is French for "Out of Order." Can you believe they've closed my metro station until December (!! my italics) for renovation work? I liked it just as it was and, frankly, what on earth can they be doing that will take them two months (apart from drinking a lot of coffee and smoking like chimneys)?? If they were going to make it more fabulous (I'm thinking glitter/gold), then fair enough. But I suspect the end result will still "feature" those off-white-railway-station-loo (in German, that would probably be one word, but I can't imagine what it would be) tiles rather too heavily for my taste. Anyway, the whole thing is MOST inconvenient as it means I've had to completely overhaul the Rhino75 Morning Routine (patent pending). Normally, the alarm goes off at 8:00 a.m., only to be put on snooze until 9:00 a.m. There follows 25 minutes of "Where/Who Am I?" (not necessarily in an existential kind of way) and 5 minutes of "quality" time with Kitty - normally a very one-sided conversation (but again, not necessarily the side you might think).
Next comes a 10-minute "cereal/toast" mental debate (this can, of course, be speeded up by forgetting to buy one or the other at the start of the week), before flinging myself under the shower and trying to find two socks that look vaguely similar (another 5 minutes). Two hours well spent, if you ask me. But NOW I have to build in an extra 15 minutes to walk to another metro station. Where on earth is THAT going to come from, I ask you?? The whole business is too stressful for words - I shall need therapy by Christmas.

Grumpy

The last two days I haven't arrived home from work before 11 p.m. which means I don't a) eat properly and b) have a life. Instead I'm sitting here feeling sorry for myself, eating Activia rhubarb yoghurt (actually, that's a positive - yumm!) and watching old Ashton Kutcher movies on cable. With the cat alternately biting my arm and flying round the room. Annoyingly. Roll on the weekend.

Grumpy tag answers

kingkongbatmankingkongbatmankingkong
As I've - rather grumpily - pointed out in one of the comments below, I don't really hold with this "tagging" business. But given that I have been "tagged" by Nomad, after delaying a couple of days, I feel it would be churlish not to reply. So here goes - no mind-bending revelations here though, let me warn you..

Four jobs I've had
  • Petrol pump attendant (I always used to arrive to hear Paul Newbold - who did the shift before me - announce, "Mmm, we're £120 over on sweets, can you try and make up the difference?" EVERY week, he'd pull that stunt.)
  • A unicycle-riding Gorilla in a Theatre in Education show (not a great success, due to my inability to ride said unicycle. It was also one of the hottest summers on record, which meant that I and my gorilla suit were not particularly popular in the dressing room.)
  • Barman and BBQ chef (at my local pub - they actually told me they'd never seen anyone look less happy in a job.)
  • Management consultant specialising in the metals and minerals processing industries (Probably about as much fun as it sounds.)
Four films I could watch over and over
Four places I have livedFour TV shows I love to watch
  • "Without a Trace"
  • "Will & Grace" (see "Breakfast at Tiffany's" comment)
  • "Eastenders" (so unremittingly miserable)
  • "24" (am a strictly televisual adrenalin junkie)
Four places I have been on vacation
  • Bali
  • Tokyo
  • Chile
  • Sweden
Four websites I visit oftenFour of my favourite foods
  • Cream (I love it in all forms, single, double, whipped, aerated)
  • Chocolate (the darker the better)
  • Soy milk (weird, I know, it surprises even me but I love it)
  • Salmon skin maki (so far, found at only one restaurant in Paris which is handily close to my office.)
Four places I would rather be right now
  • Brazil (because I've never been)
  • Brighton (it's one of my favourite towns, I love it and my sis is there too.)
  • Watching the sunset, vodka and lime in hand, on a beach in Bali
  • With the one I love (ahhhhhh, of course!)
Four people I've tagged
  • No, no, no - this nonsense stops here... :))
