Watching the gay choir sing Amel Bent's "Ma philosophie" in the Place des Vosges, laughing at teenagers up to no good on street corners, dancing to Cyndi Lauper, Kim Wilde and Madonna with the boys outside Les Souffleurs, posing for tv cameras and wandering round our 'hood, drinking beer and having a good time. Of all the annual "events" we have in France - including the Firemen's balls on July 13 and the "Nuit Blanche" or "White Night" in October - the Fête de la Musique is by far my favourite.

I finally gave up going to Paris. It's definitely too complicated, and as usual, the promises made by RATP was rubbishes.
Since my goal is to make you becoming a French Bandes Dessinées addict, here is a little link to Boulet's blog (about Fête de la Musique of course):

Hehe, Pierre, I think you may be successful - Boulet's take is excellent!!
I think you had a better time than me... I went home a bit disappointed. But maybe I wasn't in the right part of town.
Then again, I was traipsing through the Marais, and I didn't see the same sights! I was overwhelmed by the crowds... I feel like such a party pooper.
Oh well! Glad you had a blast.
ah dear Late Bloomer, you should have given me a call if you were in the Marais then you could have come with us!! It was super-crowded but I like that on these kind of occasions (less so when I'm trying to do my shopping, for example) and we were nipping down backstreets and taking shortcuts like the Marais-rats we are...
Oh, well, seems like I may have crossed your paths then, because I went to a party in Les Souffleurs and arrived at about midnight. I do love la fête de la musique, but les bals de pompier and all the variants make for an excellent night out, that is if you don't have to queue for hours and hours to get in...
Yup, that would be about the time we were there too. One day, Tiresia, we will actually meet!! You should get our mutual friend on the case!!
