Ah, C'mon...

More proof - as if any were needed - dear reader that Rhino75 isn't French. I was CONVINCED (my italics) that this recruitment agency was actually called "C'mon job" as in "oh, c'mon, get your act together and get a job!" - even, or maybe particularly, if you're a ballet-dancing chef with a thing for power tools. I thought it was a bit of a weird name, but presumed they were trying to be funky and offbeat by using English. I actually commented on this to a French pal. Imagine my surprise when he pointed out that it actually stands for "C'est mon job" or "It's my job". I still prefer my version. In other news, Sis!! arrives here tomorrow (yayyy!), I have Friday off work (who-hoo!) and I may be going flying again with Captain J on Sunday (hurrah!). Good things in store.

Oddly enough, I learnt the meaning of C'mon (the English one) long time ago while playing a... Japanese videogame.

I saw this ad too, and I's just wondering how long this trend would last. Like "C dans l'air" (the France5 afternoon talk show)... C'mon! That was funny during the first Internet era, back to the 1999s... now it's so has been...!

Have a good Friday off, and a good probable flight!

You're right, Pierre, it's TOTALLY has been and therefore my mistake was completely understandable!! On another topic entirely, where DID you get that photo?? :-) PYFO, Welcome and thank you!I can't wait, it'll be great to have her here. Jo, another of our friends, is coming over the Channel to join us from Saturday. Rhino75 Towers will be awash with oestrogen!

Darn it all! I leave on Friday for Berlin. Still, if you feel like taking your sis out for a little champers, Mein Herr has invited me to his architecture firm's party. Buzz me if you feel like coming... we jump on a plane a few hours later.

Nardac, definitely hon, I'd love you to meet Sis!! and we have a lot to catch up on too - and what better way than over a glass of champers? - Are you sure Mein Herr won't mind? That would be FAB! I'll call you. Mwah.

I totally thought the same thing about those posters... I thought it was supposed to be some kind of cheer: C'moooooon Job!

I don't know whether to be proud or embarrassed that I got it right when I saw this in the metro this weekend. Oh CHRIST, I'm ASSIMILATING!!! Quick, someone pass me a banjo and a tray of barbecue!

Have a fantabulous time with your sis and the plane thing and everything! :)

Haha, Vivi, as you say, you are obviously ripe for a bit of cultural re-education - I'm heading over to sit and play that banjo on your porch - just like that boy in "Deliverance" lol. And thank you, I promise to take lots of photos!!
