La rentrée

So after four weeks away, I'm finally returning to the *showbiz* grindstone tomorrow. I'm still gulping down fistfuls of painkillers and walking like a cripple but I think my sciatica has had quite enough rest by now, and - more importantly - I WANT MY LIFE BACK!! I've feel like I've been under house arrest for three weeks - let's face it, it's only in the last seven days that I've been able to sit upright. I've watched squillions of DVDs (including all of "Queer as Folk", "Lord of the Rings" and the "Star Wars" movies) but it's no substitute for being able to go out and about and sit in the glorious Parisian sunshine, preferably sipping a large VAT. Captain J and some other friends rang me last night to go out drinking and dancing and I SO wanted to go but I just knew I wouldn't last more than about five minutes. Ah well, there'll be other times. Thanks for all the good wishes/visits/phone calls/emails/offers of help - all very much appreciated, believe me!! Kisses to all. I shall, of course, be staying in this evening to prepare my pencil case, cover my books with brown paper and polish my shoes. Wish me luck for tomorrow (hopefully there'll be some news of my *new* job - fingers crossed).

Do you think kids still do that? Cover books in brown paper, I mean.

I really used to enjoy it even though I loathed going back to school after the long holiday.

Glad to hear you're on the mend.

I never covered my books in brown paper! How would I know which book was for which class then, I'd be so confused.

Have fun in showbiz! And my fingers are crossed for your new job.

rhino, I'm so glad to hear you're on the mend. I just know it can be so painfully dreadful Please Dear, remember not to over do it. This is believe it or not one of the hardest things to mend from so don't play. Take it easy. I can remember covering my books too. Everything was fresh and new, new paper, pencils, crayons even. Oh, to be young again, aaahhh!!
