It Ain't What You Do...

There was no entrance fee, the cloakroom was full, and we were a group of seven. We didn't have anything to drink (though all of us had drunk quite a lot over an excellent dinner), the music was appalling ("Night Fever" by the BeeGees was about as good - and as up-to-date - as it got), and the mix of cigarette smoke, sweat and cheap aftershave was enough to put you on a respirator. The décor was "backroom circa 1982" and to call the clientèle a "mixed bag" is an understatement, ranging from grandads to twinks and trannies (Much to our delight, we did spot a woman who kept her cigarettes and lighter in her very impressive cleavage - how classy is that?). Yes, I know it sounds like a recipe for the night out from hell but we had a BLAST!! Honestly. When we left it was 4 a.m. and I, for one, haven't been that sweaty and knackered in public for a long time. Which proves yet again that it doesn't matter where you are or what you do, so long as you're with the right people. (Although I do have a nasty cut on my hand where I punched (oh dear) the glitterball during ... "It's Raining Men" :::embarassment:::).
P.S. The SuperBowl is on (don't worry I'm not going to watch it) but I'm pretty sure I've just seen Aretha Franklin in a mink anorak singing "The Star-Spangled Banner". That'll teach me to eat out-of-date mushroom risotto.

Backroom circa 1982?? Oh I think I know where you went then... Sounds like you had a blast. Sorry we couldn't make it today, didn't know you had ANOTHER dinner party to go to tonight! (god, Miss Kitty's dad is never home, that's another 5 years on the couch for her). But the Palais de Tokyo was really too fab and we just had to stay a little longer. Are u free this week? I have some juicy gossips about one of our blogging mates for you...

Haha Micke, but I don't think you do, hon. That's a description of the décor rather than the place, which had nothing like that, believe me. I'd never even heard of the place before... but you're right, we had a great time!! Yeah, shame about Sunday, but let's try for later in the week - after all, you KNOW I can never resist the lure of gossip ;-).

I also rather like the image of you punching that glitterball!

Spill the beans when you hear the gossip please.

:)) and don't worry about me passing on the gossip, I am nothing if not indiscreet LOL (tho' I suspect that it's about someone who reads Micke's blog but DOESN'T read this one...)
