Quiz Night

...and the winner is...The Supremes
Sunday night is quiz night down at the Rush bar, and what better way to kick off the New Year than with sweet smell of victory in our nostrils. Oh yes, "The Supremes" (I know, I know but originally there were only three of us in the team, and I hoped thought we could do some fancy choreography) emerged triumphant with a colossal 34 points. I should point out that the LOGs and myself were more than ably abetted by Gemma, Laura and Jana (who added significant value on the Black Sea question, though her knowledge of basketball proved less than comprehensive :(). What I particularly liked about the questions was that they were divided up well between French, English and General Knowledge. So we had "Who was the first president of France's IV republic?" and "Which 1990 U.S. movie came out in France with the title 'Les Affranchis'?" alongside "Which form of transport was invented by Christopher Cockerell?" and "Which continent is home to the Venus Fly-Trap?" A top night!!

The supremes with only 3? How very Diana Ross of you to throw out one of the members!

Haha! But I thought there were only three of them (including Ms. Ross). It was only when I checked the Wikipedia entry (see here) that I discovered that they were originally a four-piece band. But, as I said, we were actually six in the end - sort of like a mini-Dreamgirls troupe (separate casts for matinée and evening performances). I am NOT a diva!!

Of course you're NOT a diva!

I think Diana herself said the exact same thing at some point.

Hmm, what a coincidence!

=)

Aha! But then again, she also sang "I'm in the middle of a chain reaction" which I am rather less likely to say... QED

Rhino, I just have one thing to say, next time you have a quiz:

"...if you need me, call me
no matter where you are
no matter how far
just call my name
and I'll be there in a hurry,
ain't no mountain high enough..." for you Rhino sheehee!

Micke, I love it!! We should definitely have a Diana Ross evening, in fact, even better we should try and get Toby to have one!! Nomad, how could you ever have doubted me? I may work in *showbiz* but my first love will always be nuclear physics...there's something about fission that just gets me going :))

OMG have just realised that last comment means I AM likely to be caught saying I'm in the middle of a chain reaction!! Rob was right - I'm channelling Diana Ross...

"I want muscles ooh aah ooh
ooh aah ooh"
Yeah! Call Toby NOW!

(by the way Nomad, I see what you're on about! You're going straight to hell together with Rob!)

Excuse moi!

Well I never!

Can you channel Diana Ross if she is still alive?

rhino75 said...

I can certainly have a good try!! Makes a change from channelling vodka at any rate...

Rob, wasn't it Diana who was sitting on the toilet on a record cover in one of your posts? It definitely looked like her... but she didn' really look alive to me.

Frog with a Blog said...

I don't know if she's still alive but she surely was eaten alive!

Rob7534 said...

HA! Micke... that was Millie Jackson, not Diana Ross.

See Here

HA! That was funny.
