Eyes Without A Face(book)
Hello everyone. My name is Rhino75 and I'm an internet addict. Frankly, there just aren't enough hours in the day to keep all my online profiles ticking over. The mere thought of it stresses me out. First there's this blog and my Vox blog, then there's the -- sadly neglected -- bookblog and, wait, hasn't it been a while since I posted any pictures on Flickr? etc. etc. With Last.fm it should be a bit easier as all you have to do is listen to music, but I torture myself with the thought that I'm lagging behind everyone else on my number of tracks "scrobbled", prompting marathon listening sessions on Saturday mornings. And anyway, do I have ENOUGH Last.fm friends?? Or do I look like a loser?? And should I write a review of every gig I go to on there?? Even though no-one else does. Am I doing it all WRONG?? That's without even mentioning reading and commenting on everyone else's blog posts/pics/music. And worrying about my stats. Most of my visitors seem to stop off for one nano-second before resuming their quest for "Elijah Wood shirtless" pics (I still don't get why Google sends 'em to me) or more information on their "jockey fetish". But I digress. I thought I'd got it under some semblance of control, and had even resisted signing up for a MySpaz account (not too hard as this one seems, to me, like the biggest waste of time of all, unless you've got some music to sell). But then along came Facebook and I went to pieces. I love it. I KNOW it's pointless. As my friend Nick asked: "How is it any different from just emailing people you know anyway?" Good point. But he's still on there, isn't he? Ha!! And ANYWAY, it's a great way for keeping up with all those people on your blogroll/flickr/last.fm/msn/googletalk lists. Don't worry, I do have friends who don't do any of this stuff - and who look at me as if I'm completely bonkers. I should, after all, at my advanced age be wearing lots (more) corduroy, reading Dick Francis and listening to jazz, or at the very least, Mozart, instead of desperately trying to edit all the SClub7 off my "most listened to" list and stalking people from primary school (MUCH easier on Facebook, BTW - hurrah - as people have to use their real name if they want it to work properly). It can only be a matter of time before my life grinds completely to a halt and I give up work to spend all day in front of my (own) computer, living in my pyjamas and subsisting on a regime of diet soda and takeaway pizza until I grow so huge that I'm unable to fit through the door of my apartment and have to be lifted out by a hydraulic crane (slightly embarrassing). But I fear I'm beyond help now - even as I write, I'm thinking about how cool it might be to sign up for virb.com...just because it looks so nice...see ya there!! (and yeah, please add me).

You need twitter.com to complete the package.
Btw, this all reminds me of this Wim Wenders film Until The End of the World. I've stopped looking in the mirror because I'm bluefacing too much.
STOP POKING ME!

Well, I think reading this post made me understand a lot of things about you and your relationship to internet.
And... happy to know that i'm not the only one to be rhinopoked 3 times a day ; maybe we should all get together and fight back or something...
