Rhino's Big Gay Bathroom

First up, a confession. If you've come here expecting Bastille Day tales of dancing in the street with firemen, you're going to be disappointed. Because, dear reader, while Paris has been a-celebrating, Rhino's been a-decorating!! OK, OK, I DID nip out for a swift one with Cath and Kirsty on Thursday, but apart from that it's been INTERIORS all the way. It all started off conservatively enough with the purchase of a rather large wall unit in the sales, which serves the dual purpose of holding books AND showcasing my unique (my italics) collection of cat-shaped ornaments and teaset sculpture. Call me eclectic, it's not a crime. Maybe it was the charming young man in a singlet who came to put it together, or maybe the simple act of buying new furniture triggered my long-dormant gay decorating gene... but after that, there was no stopping me. With nary a backward glance, I hot-footed it over to the Printemps department store and I believe the results speak for themselves (see pics): I am now the proud owner of a big gay bathroom. Look, there's even a bottle of Kiehl's shower-gel cosying up to that pink scrunchy thing - it doesn't get much gayer than that. All I need now is a disco ball and a stereo in there playing "I am what I am" and it will be complete. Fabulous. So thrilled was I with my new improved Rhino75 Towers, I took the phone off the hook and spent the rest of the weekend luxuriating in it, reading and catching up on movies - notably "Match Point" (good) "Vanity Fair" (very good, plus it has James Purefoy in it), "Harry Potter & the Goblet of Fire" (hmm, entertaining enough), and "The Constant Gardener" (excellent, because it tells you stuff you already know but the characters are so well done that you find yourself nevertheless getting all indignant about it). Oooh, before I forget. Mini-celebrity sighting just yards from Rhino75 Towers. Film director Elie Chouraqui. You know, he directed that film Harrison's Flowers with Andie MacDowell (very harrowing film about the former Yugoslavia, and the first time I'd seen Andie smoke on screen). And the musical version of "The 10 Commandments" - oh dear, now I'm making him sound like Mel Brooks, aren't I? Anyway, he's VERY well known in France, honestly. I threw a few of my audition moves, but unfortunately, got a bit tangled up in the sidewalk tables of a nearby crêperie, which kind of spoiled the effect. Maybe next time...

Now you have the decorating bug it won't stop there. Every spare weekend you have will be spent buying furniture you don't need and window shopping for wall hangings. Your friends will never see you again as you are swallowed up by the domestic doityourself monster. Free yourself while you still can! Nice pinks though (:

As always, wise words from Kieran. Why, only at lunchtime today, I was overcome by an uncontrollable urge to buy pink towels in the Galeries Lafayette sale for the BGB. Where will it end? Am I turning into Barbara Cartland? (Don't answer that one, please...)

A big gay bathroom! Excellent. I trust it also has large phallic artwork on the wall, and a shower large enough for 8 people! :)

hmm, we're not very big on phallic artwork here at Rhino75 Towers but there IS a very attractive Pride Duck lurking just out of shot in those pics (not pink enough to make it into the final selection). I couldn't fit eight people in the tub though.

How many can you fit in your tub? How many have you tried? :)
