Impulse moment

There used to be ads on U.K. TV for a cheap 'n' nasty cheerful spray-on scent called "Impulse". (OMG, they still make it.) They featured a young(-ish) lady wearing rather a lot of make-up strolling down the street, swinging her handbag etc. As she passes a guy, he catches a whiff of her (ewww, but NO!), runs over to the flower stall (conveniently situated nearby), buys a bouquet and chases after her with it. She turns round, flashes a smile and melts into his arms. And as if that weren't enough, the cheesiness factor then shoots off the scale, thanks to the voiceover: "When a man you've never met before offers you flowers, it's an Impulse moment". Well, dear reader, as yours truly was making his way to work - a little blurrily and slightly grumpily, given that rhino75 is NOT a morning person - what should happen but a man I'd never met before came up and offered me this flower??!! (my italics!) I was a little taken aback, particularly as I was singing along to the Sugababes' "Push the Button" on my iPod at the time and hadn't seen him coming. Was this an Impulse moment? Was I about to jump on a carousel with my admirer, laughing gaily, as they always did in the ads? Well no. I gave myself a tentative sniff but it was just the usual "eau de rhino". And THEN I noticed that, in fact, there were lots of other people walking along the street clutching a single orange bloom. And that the (rather plain) man who'd given me mine actually had a whole shopping trolley full of them. Can you believe it was nothing more than a clever marketing stunt to promote mobile phones?? But just for a moment there, I was that heavily made-up, handbag-swinging woman. Talk about magic. BTW, everyone who reads this has to send me positive vibes at around 11 a.m. tomorrow (Friday). I'm talking Paris time, of course. Can't say more at the moment, but much depends on it and you only have to keep it up for about half an hour (fnar! Though if the stories are true, that could be a problem for some of you ;D).

Oh Rhino, it started off so well with "quand un inconnu vous offre des fleurs, c'est l'effet Impulse" (pronounce: Immpeulseu), we also had the same ad in France in the 80's, that was a nasty one btw. You must've been so excited at first... the unknown man, the flower, the plans, the future countryhouse, the children, Ms. K's future need for therapy etc... and it all burst in one second. Marketing and capitalism are rude to us people.
Judging from the color of the flower, no need to figure out what mobile phone company we're talking about here...
Anyway, at 11 today, I'll be sending magic vibes and you can count on me getting it up for AT LEAST 30 minutes.

Thank you Micke!! I think your "vibe" efforts, combined with those of my friend Louise, may have paid off!

Oh dear, I didn't read it in time to send you good vibes. But it seems as if mine were unnecessary. Now tell us why you wanted good vibes.

Never fear Babsbitchin is here!! I always send good vibes to you all, my adoring Parisian loves of my life, you and Frog.Whatever it is, your life is a bit charmed anyway rhino, you have a bit of the ol' back problem but you are as alluring as the flower, as fragrant as a spring morn. But, you are very elusive and you do tend to hold your heart rolled up tightly. It is very hard to get in to the rhino mind. You are one of the hardest. You are poised with confidence most days and often are bored with things, people, places and opt to stay in your world, that which is in your head. But you are charmed, more than most!Mwah!!

Thank you Babs!! Aha, so you think I'm inscrutable, I see ;). I once made a New Year's Resolution to "be more mysterious" and whenever anyone asked me what I meant by that, I would merely say 'aha!" Rest assured that in real life I'm not at all elusive, I wear my heart on my sleeve and I don't get bored with things either. In fact, I fear change!! I'm obviously giving a false impression on this blog - eek!

I'm sorry Rhino, I've been away :( I couldn't give the good vibes, in fact, I was probably in bed. Forgive me!

What was the news afterall? Did you get another job in **SHOWBIZ**?

Rob, Rhino hasn't told us yet. it's still a mystery.

Rhino, one question: why on earth did you decide to become more mysterious?

aha?

I WANT to tell you, but I can't 'cos it's not official yet - but I'm hoping it will be by the end of the week. Then we can all breathe a huge sigh of relief...(by "we all" I mean me, of course.)

OMG! I know what your big secret it!

It just came to me. You're pregnant! I knew it. Who is the father?!

Rob, how did you guess? Talk about a spoiler. And it's yours. Unfortunately, "Junior" - as I call him - is already 7 years old - that's a lot of child support payments you owe me. I'll take a cheque. (Bang go those holiday plans tho') ;D
