Tennis Champs

The Champs Elysées (aka "the most beautiful avenue in the world") was closed off to traffic on Sunday and turned into a giant sports ground. The aim: to try and persuade the International Olympic Committee that Paris should be selected as the venue for the 2012 games. And I was there!! Albeit by accident. I thought it was brilliantly Parisian: the scale of the thing was really impressive, they even had showjumping down at one end of the avenue; at the same time, from an organisational point of view, it was a bit of a shambles as no-one really seemed to know what there was to see and so it was all a bit hit-and-miss, and there were too many people milling around aimlessly for you to actually try and make your way anywhere. Looked great though.
